bio:
In a rugged mountain town nestled deep in the heart of the North Cascades the band Brownstar first formed. Since inception in March 2007 the band has taken to writing hard driving rock scores, with dabs of indie and pop scattered throughout. Brownstar's music is inspired by the harsh reality of life in the hills, and musical greats such as the Pixies, White Stripes, and Franz Ferdinand. The band’s songs touch both the most graceful and primal aspects of human expression.
Running a close second to their musical prowess is undoubtedly their electric stage presence. Justin Stivers, former bassist for the New York based band, the Antlers said "Brownstar's stage presence is comparable to the more entertaining bands on the New York rock circuit.” “They strip the music down to its core and play it with passion just as Cobain and the boys did back in the day," as written in the Weekly Volcano. Such a reaction is understandable considering the band's severe lack of stage fright and their unquenchable urge to rock.
From the foothills of the North Cascades to the hustle and bustle of the world renowned rock city Seattle Washington, Brownstar continues to impress audiences who share their desire to rock. Within one year of the band’s recent relocation to Seattle, Washington, Brownstar is already being booked by several promotional companies along Interstate 5 including: Fractured Industries, Extreme Promotions, and MO Management. The band played over 50 shows during 2008 including concerts with Seattle's veteran rockers Superfekta, and other national acts such as LBC Sublime. They have established followings in Portland, Seattle, Olympia, and Bellingham.
As the momentum builds for these motivated artists, they continue to captivate crowds and cultivate an ever growing fan base. On the heels of the success of their live shows, Brownstar recently wrapped up recording their first official album Journey Quest. There next LP is being recorded at Robert Lang Studios where the band is hoping to get a more professional representation of their music. Recently, their song, Tip The Waitress was added to the “Fresh Sounds 2009” album put out by JAB Records a Britain based label. They are also currently recording "The Screen" a song which will make its debut in a mid-evil comedy film coming out in 2011 written by Damon Abdallah. The band also has several songs to be included in the upcoming movie "The Absent" by director Sage Bannick. Check out the band at one of their upcoming tour dates, and check out www.myspace.com/1brownstars for more information.

That's sick, SXSW is supposed to be awesome. We're trying to work something out so we can head down but it's still 50/50. Either way we can definitely send you guys some tshirts and cards so you can spread the word. Did you have any other ideas? We'd love to hear em.
